Action Ε1 - Notice boards

The notice boards of LIFE GRECABAT project are designed to give the basic information about the project, the partners, the funding, the species the habitat and the institutional status of the location of each project. Finally, they include basic safety warnings.

Action E1 - Interpretation Signs

The interpretation signs will be placed at the respective locations of the LIFE GRECABAT protection and restoration interventions.  They are designed to inform visitors about the importance of the sites for the species and habitat, the feasibility of the interventions and the rules of good behaviour.

Action E2: Virtual Cave Exploration Application

For the first time in Greece, a multimedia virtual reality application was created to present the cave habitat and life in caves. The aim of this particular action was to create an alternative way to demonstrate/present cave habitat without the physical presence of visitors inside caves. Through the app, the user has the opportunity to briefly experience the joy of exploring a cave and the life it hosts.

“Proteas” Caving Club of Thessaloniki hosts LIFE GRECABAT

As a response to the restrictive measures following the COVID-2019 pandemic, “Proteas” Caving Club of Thessaloniki has arranged a series of web-seminars and discussions, on subjects concerning cave and mountain habitats.

Bats are not responsible for the COVID-19 pandemic
With a joint notification, the Secretariats of the three international organizations (CMS, EUROBATS and AEWA) specify that for the outbreak and world spreading of COVID-19 pandemic, human activities and not bats are to be held responsible. The notification highlights that bats are on one hand necessary for human prosperity, while on the other, they are on a great extend threatened and protected by international conventions as well as the national legislation of many state-countries. The involvement of all associated Entities and citizens is deemed necessary for the prevention of misunderstandings and for the protection of wildlife.
The third conference of LIFE GRECABAT in Kalavrita is postponed

The LIFE GRECABAT team and the co-organizers decided to postpone the two-day conference on "Caves and underground life in the Municipality of Kalavrita: Towards an integrated protection and management". The conference was scheduled to take place on March 12 & 13, 2020 at the Cave of Lakes, Kastria and the Mansion of Paleologina in Kalavrita respectively.

Put on your wings and fly! LIFE GRECABAT celebrates Halloween!

On Saturday 22 February 2020, LIFE GRECABAT, in collaboration with the Exhibition of the Natural History Museum of Crete, organized a Halloween event with talks and workshops with cave animal specimens, cave animal crafts and games....

LIFE GRECABAT at KETHEA ARIADNI

Members of the LIFE GRECABAT team had the special opportunity to visit KETHEA ARIADNI in Heraklion, Crete. The visit took place on 31 January 2020, when scientists from the Natural History Museum of Crete, University of Crete and the Institute of Speleological Research of Greece spoke to the members of KETHEA ARIADNI about cave life and the natural history and ecology of bats.
