The overall aim is the implementation of conservation actions in 10 Natura 2000 sites in order to improve the conservation status (range, population, habitat, future prospect) of 10 selected bat species (Annexes II - IV 92/43/EEC) and of Habitat 8310 (Annex I 92/43/EEC).

The LIFE programme is the EU’s funding instrument for the environment and climate action. LIFE contributes to the implementation, updating and development of EU environmental and climate policy and laws by co-financing projects with European added value. Since its creation in 1992, LIFE has been through different funding periods.

Stretching over 18 % of the EU’s land area and almost 6 % of its marine territory, it is the largest coordinated network of protected areas in the world. It offers a haven to Europe's most valuable and threatened species and habitats.
