Completion of the project for the protection of the Adrainage Tunnels in Panagopoula, Achaia

In April 2024, the project for the protection of the habitat and colonies of bats in the Drainage Tunnels in Panagopoula, Achaia, was completed, which was implemented in the framework of Action C1 “Protection, restoration and management of important roosting sites for bats" of our LIFE GRECABAT Project.

The project ensures the unhindered passage of the protected colonies of bats that use the shelter, improves the bioclimatic conditions of the upper gallery with the installation of heat traps while, at the same time, effectively prevents human access to the colony area. Tunnel inspections under Action D2 showed that the bats accepted the work with satisfaction, as many hundreds gathered to spawn.
